Where To Configure Nameserver – Webhosting or Domain Registrar

When you switch your web hosting away from Domain Registrar. You usually have the choice to keep the name server pointing at your Domain registrar where you configure MX,A and CNAME Record or you can point them at your Webhosting provider and configure them over there.

If your Domain Registrar is super loaded then fetching records will take longer regardless of load on your website. If you change the records, it also takes 24hrs to effect. There is a chance that DNS Poisoning could happen.

A better solution is to configure Nameserver to point to your Web Hosting and Configure MX,A and CNAME record in there. The advantage is that the changes propogate faster as it’s being made locally on your webhosting. and you also have more control over the settings.
